India have dropped Zaheer Khan, Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh from their squad for their fourth Test match against England starting on Thursday in Nagpur.
The trio have been replaced by fast bowler Parvinder Awana, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and leg-spinner Piyush Chawla.
Awana and Jadeja have been called up for a Test match for the first time in their careers.
Veteran batsman Sachin Tendulkar and captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni both remain in the squad despite calls for the latter to resign as skipper.
"Leading a side is all about doing it when the team is not doing well, trying to gel them together, back the youngsters and the senior guys," BBC Sport quotes Dhoni as saying.
"The easiest thing for me to do right now is to give up the captaincy and be part of the side, because that's just running away from the responsibility.
"I have to get the team together, and be prepared for the next Test."
India trail 2-1 in the four-match Test series.
