Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has paid his respects to youngster Ankit Keshri, who died after colliding with a teammate during a match.
The 20-year-old was resuscitated on the field after the coming together but, despite regaining consciousness upon being taken to hospital, Keshri suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away in the early hours of Monday morning.
Tendulkar, who remains the highest run-scorer in Test and one-day international history, has taken to Twitter to offer condolences to the family of his "promising" compatriot.
"Saddened by the demise of Ankit Keshri," he said. "A promising career aborted by an unfortunate incident on field. May God give strength to Ankit's family and friends to cope with this loss #RIP."
The incident comes just four months after Australian cricketer Phil Hughes died after being hit by a bouncer.
