Ashley Giles: 'Andrew Flintoff unlikely to play for Lancashire Lightning'

Ashley Giles casts doubt over Andrew Flintoff's future at Lancashire Lightning, claiming that he has been unable to contact the former England skipper.

Lancashire Lightning head coach Ashley Giles has revealed that he does not expect Andrew Flintoff to play another game for the county.

The 37-year-old announced last year that he would make a surprise return to Old Trafford, four years after initially calling time on his career through injury.

Flintoff has since featured for Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash over the winter months, although it was unknown whether he would appear for Lancashire in the T20 Blast.

Giles has now attempted to clear things up, telling the Manchester Evening News: "He is a hard person to track down. I have sent him a text but I have not heard anything at the moment. Therefore, if I was hedging my bets I would say no, he won't play a role this summer."

Former England captain Flintoff last week himself admitted that he is unsure of his Red Rose future.
