Mumbai Indians hold off Delhi Daredevils' chase

The Mumbai Indians beat the Delhi Daredevils in the IPL by 15 runs after a fine bowling performance to defend their total.

The Mumbai Indians have held off a late Delhi Daredevils challenge to win their IPL match on Friday afternoon by 15 runs.

Mumbai started well, with all three opening batsmen reaching the 30s. Lendi Simmons (35), Mike Hussey (56) and Rohit Sharma (30) took them to 140-3 before a collapse saw them achieve just 173 all out.

In response the Daredevils got off to a sluggish start and by the time captain Kevin Pietersen was dismissed for a good 44 his side were 59-2 after eight overs.

Jean-Paul Duminy (44*) and Manoj Tiwary (41) led a late revival, but fine bowling in the final two overs from Marchant de Lange and Jasprit Bumrah saw the chase fall short as the Daredevils managed just 158-4 in response.
