Northants Steelbacks edge out Birmingham Bears

Northants Steelbacks beat Birmingham Bears by 15 runs in their latest T20 Blast encounter.

Northants Steelbacks have beaten Birmingham Bears by 15 runs in their T20 Blast clash at the County Ground in Northampton tonight.

Minimal yet key contributions at the crease from Kyle Coetzer (40) Graeme White (34) and Adam Rossington (27) helped the Steelbacks register a respectable target of 139 after their innings.

The Bears' opening pair of Warun Chopra and William Porterfield did little to reduce the deficit, contributing a total of 12 runs before being dismissed.

Shoaib Malik had a little more fortune, however, registering 47 before Mohammad Azharullah claimed the first of two wickets on the night.

Azharullah struck again later in the match to dismiss Tim Ambrose as Birmingham ultimately fell 15 runs short of their target.
