Misbah-ul-Haq and Asad Shafiq have kept Pakistan's hopes alive in the first Test against South Africa with an unbeaten 101-run fifth-wicket stand.
Pakistan reached 183-4 at the close of play on day three at the Wanderers.
The visitors looked to be on course for a heavy defeat earlier in the day when chasing 480, they slumped to 82-4 before tea.
However, Misbah (44 not out) and Shafiq (53 not out) demonstrated extreme patience, as they batted out 45 overs to frustrate the Proteas.
