Sri Lanka have finished 108 runs behind Pakistan after out bowling their opponents for 165 on day one of the second Test in Dubai.
Pakistan, who lost the toss and were put into bat, struggled at the crease before the Sri Lankans made steady progress in response, ending the day on 57-1.
Khurram Manzoor topscored for Pakistan with a defiant knock of 73, but Bilawal Bhatti (24), Mohammad Hafeez (21) and Younis Khan (13) were the only other players to make it into double figures.
Nuwan Pradeep and Rangana Herath both took three wickets each for Sri Lanka, while Suranga Lakmal and Shaminda Eranga ended with two wickets apiece.
The Sri Lankans suffered the early loss of Dimuth Karunaratne (32) when it was their turn out in the middle, but Kaushal Silva (12) and Kumar Sangakkara (12) survived to start the second day at the crease.
