Melbourne Renegades have beaten Adelaide Strikers by one run in their Big Bash League encounter at the Adelaide Oval.
The Strikers needed a big win to seal their place in the semi-finals, while the Renegades started the match with their campaign already over.
The visitors put themselves into bat first and made 155-6 before Adelaide posted a score of 154-7 from their 20 overs.
Melbourne's top order did most of the damage at the crease as Daniel Harris (31), Michael Hill (30), Dwayne Bravo (47) and Ben Rohrer (30) all made impressive knocks.
Shaun Tait, Jon Holland and Kane Richardson took two wickets apiece for the home side.
Alex Hales (32), Jono Dean (28), Tim Ludeman (20) and Michael Neser (35 not out) made sure that Adelaide needed four runs off the final ball to win, but they were unable to reach their target.
Peter Siddle ended as the pick of the Melbourne bowlers on his Big Bash debut with three wickets to his name, while Muttiah Muralitharan and Bravo split the remaining four wickets between them.
