South African batsman Hashim Amla believes that he still has improvements to make in his game.
The 29-year-old hit an unbeaten knock of 311 runs to leave his nation on the cusp of claiming a Test victory over England at the Kia Oval.
Despite setting a new South African record with his score, Amla is adamant that he is not the complete player.
"This innings is something I'll remember, but I've still got a long way to go in the development of my game," he told BBC Sport. "Having Jacques there was a massive help. He kept the scoreboard ticking, which meant I could go about my business.
"We're in a good position as the bowlers have done a fantastic job."
Amla made his debut for the Proteas in 2004.
