Second Test between South Africa, West Indies ends in draw

The second Test between South Africa and West Indies in Port Elizabeth has ended in a draw after poor weather prevented play from taking place on the final day.

After the players had taken an early lunch due to rain, the umpires inspected the outfield at hourly intervals but there was no improvement in its condition.

West Indies had ended day four on 275-9 in response to South Africa's first-innings total of 417-8 declared, with Kraigg Braithwaite and Marlon Samuels both notching centuries.

The hosts boosted their chances of an unlikely victory during a shortened evening session, taking five wickets for just 30 runs.

However, the rain returned on day five to prevent the Proteas from achieving that feat.

Braithwaite was named man of the match following his knock of 106.
