Rilee Roussouw (39) and AB de Villiers (31) settled the South Africa attack before Farhaan Behardien top-scored with 70 from 87 balls.

Vernon Philander and Imran Tahir took the score past 200 in the final over, before Tahir was run out by Martin Guptill to end the innings three balls early.

Doug Bracewell's performance was the highlight for New Zealand, posting bowling figures of 3-31.
