Kumar Sangakkara hit an unbeaten century to guide Sri Lanka to 287-6 in the seventh one-day international against New Zealand in Wellington.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Sri Lanka made a solid start to their innings as Lahiru Thirimanne and Tillakaratne Dilshan put on 71 for the opening wicket.
Corey Anderson made the first breakthrough in the 15th over to trap Thirimanne (30) lbw, but the frustration would return for the hosts as Dilshan and Sangakkara combined for a century partnership.
Dilshan departed for 81 when he edged Tim Southee through to Luke Ronchi, and the Sri Lankan middle order struggled to pile on the runs in the latter stages of the innings as the Black Caps hit back with the ball.
However, Sangakkara's 113 from 105 balls, which included 14 boundaries, guided the tourists to a challenging total as they look to claim a morale-boosting win after heading into the match trailing 4-2.
