Cyclist Joanna Rowsell unfazed by time trial finish

England cyclist Joanna Rowsell plays down her 13th-place finish in the time trial by claiming that she has already reached her goals by becoming Commonwealth champion.

England cyclist Joanna Rowsell has said that she is not overly disappointed by her performance in the time trial, having already won Commonwealth gold this summer.

Rowsell, who sealed first in the 3,000m individual pursuit, failed to replicate her track success this morning as she finished 13th in the road event.

Nevertheless, the 25-year-old says that she will leave Glasgow having achieved what she set out to do after becoming a Commonwealth champion.

"I gave it my best but there you go. I was always targeting the track gold rather than two bronzes and that paid off," she told BBC Sport.

"But it was a good experience and it's been good supporting Emma Pooley in the Village this week."

Her compatriot Emma Pooley claimed a silver medal after finishing six seconds behind winner Linda Villumsen from New Zealand.
