Team England cyclist Jason Kenny has claimed that his individual sprint final against Sam Webster this evening could have gone either way.
Webster, riding for Team New Zealand, narrowly pipped Kenny to gold at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, winning the deciding race in the best-of-three final.
Kenny was seen vomiting immediately after the race, but he believes that on another day he could have scooped the top prize.
"Just looking at body language and, knowing how I feel, I figure he's probably not feeling great, unless he's superhuman. I think it was anyone's game at the end of the day and we're obviously both feeling the effects," he told reporters.
"He rode the last one absolutely perfectly, so there is not a lot I could have done really. I had to be a lot closer and he did just enough to put me off and shake me off his tail."
When asked if he felt like he could have won on another day, Kenny added: "Absolutely. I said that before the semi-finals - you couldn't have picked a winner there, it could have been anyone.
"It could have been any one of four or five guys. So it's nice to be in the mix and nice to be pushing all the way to three rides as well - he didn't get it easy."
The silver is Kenny's second at the Commonwealth Games, having also finished second as part of the team sprint on Thursday.
