Lance Armstrong has claimed that he has been made the 'fall guy' for cycling's doping culture.
The American, who was stripped of his seven Tour de France titles, believes that there has been doping in every generation of riders.
"Yes I do [believe I'm a fall guy], but I understand why," he told Cyclingnews.
"My generation was no different from any other. From hopping on trains a 100 years ago to EPO now.
"The 'help' has evolved over the years, but the fact remains that our sport is damn hard, the Tour was invented as a 'stunt', and very tough [athletes] have competed for a century and all looked for advantages."
The 41-year-old admitted to doping during his career in a television interview earlier this month.
