Rory McIlroy, Shane Warne among greats sending encouragement to Bradley Wiggins

Four sportsmen including Rory McIlroy and Shane Warne send their encouragement to Bradley Wiggins ahead of his hour-long record attempt.

Four sportsmen have shown their support for Bradley Wiggins, who will attempt to break the hour-record attempt this evening.

Wiggins will aim to beat the record of 52.937km set by fellow Briton Alex Dowsett earlier this year.

"Sir Bradley, I heard about you're record attempt. I just want to say good luck with it, I hope everything goes well and I hope you smash it," Rory McIlroy, the world's number one golfer, told Sky Sports News.

"Hi Brad, strap yourself in and get it done in the hour. Good luck," former Australia bowler Shane Warne said.

Boxer Carl Froch was next to send his encouragement to Wiggins, saying: "Good luck Brad for your hour-record attempt. An hour of pain for your place in the record books. Good luck to you Bradley."

Finally, former England rugby player Will Greenwood added: "Think of those rugby league legends you so admire. Dig deep. Mark is in and around the 55k mark. I know, we know, you can smash it."

Wiggins has won a host of honours throughout his career, including the 2012 Tour de France and four Olympic gold medals.
