Bradley Wiggins says that it would have been "nice" to be part of the London 2012 parade but insists that he is focused on the Tour of Britain.

Olympic gold medallist Bradley Wiggins has admitted that it would have been "nice" to attend today's victory parade for the Olympians and Paralympians but understands that he still has a "day job".

The Tour de France winner is currently competing in the second leg of the Tour of Britain in Nottingham, which means that he is unable to celebrate the country's Olympic success with his fellow athletes today.

"We've got our own parade to do this week so, you know, this is our day job," BBC Sport quotes Wiggins as saying.

"We don't have the beauty of having a year off now because the cycling calendar is still going on. It would have been nice to have been there with the rest of the team but I think we're all enjoying it this week."

The parade is due to get underway in central London at 1.30pm.
