Cadel Evans has said that Bradley Wiggins will be a major threat at the Tour de France, which starts in Liege today.
The Australian enters the race as the defending champion, having edged out Andy Schleck last year, and said that he is relishing a potential battle with Wiggins.
The BMC rider said that Team Sky's results so far this year prove that they will be a force to be reckoned with over the 20-stage race.
"I've never gone head-to-head with Wiggins over a three-week Tour. I'm guessing we'll be in for a good battle," said Evans.
"This year Sky and Wiggins, their results speak for themselves, certainly in the week-long stage races - they've been the best team and Brad's been the best rider. They've really lifted their level.
"There are 198 people in the race. Eight of them are my teammates and everyone else I'll have to beat. Wiggins is one of those. It's pretty simple - you've got to get to Paris quicker than anyone else."
Evans has five top-eight finishes, twice being a runner-up, from seven Tour de France rides.
