Mayor of London Boris Johnson has hailed the performance of Bradley Wiggins after his 2012 Tour de France win.
The 32-year-old made history on Sunday as he became the first Brit to ever win the Tour, after teammate Mark Cavendish triumphed in the final stage of the famous race.
Johnson has congratulated Wiggins and labelled him as "legendary".
"Huge congratulations must go to Bradley Wiggins," said Johnson.
"His incredible determination, focus and will to win blew away the rest of the field and propelled this legendary Londoner to the summit of his sport.
"His inspirational performances, ably supported by his fellow Team Sky riders including Brits Chris Froome and Mark Cavendish, will encourage thousands more people to take to two wheels."
Wiggins now turns his attention to representing Team GB at the Olympic Games.
