Power cut hits BDO World Darts Championship

The start of the 2014 Lakeside World Professional Darts Championship is delayed due to a power cut at Frimley Green.

The start of the 2014 Lakeside World Professional Darts Championship was delayed on Saturday due to a power cut.

Defending champion Scott Waites had been scheduled to begin the defence of his BDO crown against Alan Norris at 2.30pm.

However, that start time had to be pushed back slightly after the entire complex at Frimley Green, Surrey, lost power for around 15 minutes just after 2pm.

The women's tournament did get underway on time earlier on Saturday, as nine-time champion Trina Gulliver MBE lost 2-0 to Dutch thrower Tamara Schuur.
