Michael van Gerwen produces a scintillating performance to thrash Adrian Lewis 6-0 and reach his second consecutive World Darts Championships final.

Michael van Gerwen produced a stunning performance to thrash Adrian Lewis 6-0 and reach his second consecutive PDC World Darts Championships final this evening.

Both players started in style as three 180s were thrown in the opening two legs of the match, but it was Van Gerwen who made fewer mistakes than his opponent to take the first set, clinching it with a fine 12-dart finish.

The bar was raised even higher in the second set as both players traded maximums for fun and produced fine checkouts, but once again Van Gerwen came out on top with a 3-2 victory.

Lewis began the third set with his fifth 180 of the night, but he missed six opportunities to tie the leg up, allowing the Dutchman to break the throw and hold his own for a 3-0 lead overall.

Van Gerwen's scintillating form continued in the fourth as he won it in straight legs, finishing off with a superb 154 checkout to edge ever closer to victory.

The Dutchman continued his dominance in the fifth set with a 3-1 victory to put him within one of a clean sweep, which he duly achieved in the next set to seal an incredible performance at Alexandra Palace.

Van Gerwen will face Peter Wright in the final on New Year's Day.
