Tom Holland reveals that the upcoming fourth Spider-Man movie remains in development.

Tom Holland has revealed that the next film in his Spider-Man series is still being developed.

The actor has appeared as the heroic web-slinger in three standalone films to date - most recently 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home, which drew almost $2 billion (£1.6 billion) at the global box office and introduced the multiverse to the MCU.

A fourth film starring Holland has already been confirmed, although in a new interview he has suggested that it may not arrive any time soon as a suitable story is still being worked on.

"We have the best in the business working toward whatever the story might be," he told Deadline. "But until we've cracked it, we have a legacy to protect.

"The third movie was so special in so many ways that we need to make sure we do the right thing."

He added: "This is the first time in this process that I've been part of the creative so early. It's just a process where I'm watching and learning. It's just a really fun stage for me.

"Like I said, everyone wants it to happen. But we want to make sure we're not overdoing the same things."

Although a release date has yet to be confirmed, the new movie is most likely to form part of Marvel's "Phase Six", which will comprise films released from mid-2025 to mid-2027.
