Steph McGovern calls time on lockdown show

Steph McGovern reveals that the final lockdown episode of The Steph Show will air next week.

Steph McGovern has revealed that her lunchtime Channel 4 series will end next week after six weeks on the air.

The show was brought forward by several weeks and broadcast from McGovern's own home as the coronavirus pandemic escalated and construction of a new Leeds studio was halted.

"As much as I've loved doing a lockdown show at home I never expected it to go on this long," McGovern wrote on Twitter. "We've decided it's time to have a break and give my family our home back.

"The proper programme will be launching when the Leeds studio is sorted, I may still be wearing slippers. The last locked down version of #TheStephShow will be next Thursday May 7."

In a subsequent interview, Channel 4's director of programming Ian Katz admitted that complaints from McGovern's neighbours had also factored into the decision.
