The Matrix 4 cast agree to extend filming

The cast of The Matrix 4 reportedly sign up for an additional eight weeks of filming after production was halted due to coronavirus.

The Matrix 4 cast have reportedly agreed to an additional eight weeks of filming after production was shut down due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The movie - the first in the franchise since 2003's Matrix Revolutions - was officially confirmed last summer, with Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss and Jada Pinkett Smith all signing up to reprise their roles from the original trilogy.

Filming began in San Francisco in February but was brought to a halt just a month later as the COVID-19 crisis took hold, with additional shooting planned for Chicago and Berlin also being put on ice.

According to Variety, cast and crew have now signed on for eight-week extensions to the filming schedule, "put on hold until at least July 6".

Warner Bros currently have The Matrix 4 pencilled in for a late May 2021 release, although this is likely to be pushed back if production cannot start up again this summer.
