Plans for RuPaul's Drag Race finale still unclear

VH-1 have yet to announce whether the finale of RuPaul's Drag Race will go ahead as planned later this month.

VH-1 have still not announced whether the finale of the current season of RuPaul's Drag Race will go ahead this month.

The 12th season is currently due to wrap on Friday, May 28 with an episode that sees the last few queens taking on one final battle in an effort to take the crown.

Normally the finale is filmed in front of a live theatre audience, with the remaining queens facing off in a series of epic lip-synchs for their lives.

With California still under lockdown due to the coronavirus outbreak, that format must almost certainly be ditched if the episode is to be still filmed this month.

Fan speculation online has suggested that the finale could be filmed remotely over Zoom, or alternatively in a studio with no audience and all social distancing measures applied to the production.

The other option is to delay the finale until much later in the year, when the worst of the virus is expected to have passed.

The finale is normally preceded by a fast turnaround reunion episode the week prior - and just yesterday the show's official Twitter account asked for fan questions for the episode, suggesting that it will still go ahead on schedule.

One queen who will not feature in the reunion or finale is Sherry Pie, who was disqualified after allegations that she had sexually exploited young men into performing acts for her online.
