Strictly Come Dancing pro Katya Jones has revealed that the team are "working really, really hard" to get the show on air this year, suggesting that its return could provide a boost to national morale.
The annual dance contest usually airs from late September on BBC One but this year's run has been thrown into doubt by the coronavirus pandemic.
Producers are said to have been looking at multiple measures to enable the show to go ahead, including axing live studio audiences and quarantining participants, but Jones has admitted that she is still in the dark over any changes.
"I just know that everybody's working really, really hard to make it work," she told Fubar Radio.
"I think we'll need to wait and hear how the rules are going to change further on because we normally start at the end of July, beginning of August, so things might drastically change of course with the social distancing and things like that. But I really, really think we all need it!
"Obviously everybody is just waiting to hear what's going to happen. But I think the nation needs some sparkles of Strictly!"
Rumoured celebs for this year's show include Michelle Keegan, Catherine Tate and Jane Goldman.
