New spinoff Catfish UK launches with a peak of 186,000 viewers for MTV.

MTV's UK version of Catfish got off to a decent start in the ratings last night with an average of 102,000 viewers (a 0.6% audience share) in the 9pm hour.

The new four-part series, hosted by Julie Adenuga and Oobah Butler, is the first English-language spinoff of the hit show, which has run for eight seasons in the US.

The first episode of the UK version more than doubled MTV's slot average over the last year and peaked with around 186,000 viewers halfway through.

More4 triumphed among the multichannels in the 9pm hour, meanwhile, with the latest episode of breakout hit Matt Baker: Our Farm In The Dales bringing in 736,000 viewers.

Catfish UK continues Wednesdays at 9pm on MTV and is also available on demand through MTV Play.
