Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes annoyed by late fixture change

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes questions the scheduling of their Scottish Premiership match against Dundee after it was moved due to international call-ups.

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has criticised the scheduling of their Scottish Premiership fixture against Dundee.

The match was originally due to be played next Monday, but was moved to Saturday due to three international call-ups in the Aberdeen squad.

Mark Reynolds has been called up to the Scotland squad and could play against Niall McGinn's Northern Ireland next week. Lawrence Shankland was also named in the Scotland Under-21s squad, who face Hungary U21s next week.

"Why have a game on the Monday of an international week?" McInnes is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.

"And if the alternative date was there so readily, why weren't we given that option? As players and staff we can adjust but I think it's unnecessary to have it changed so late in terms of the supporters.

"We shouldn't take our supporters for granted and myself and the players certainly don't do that, but the change being so late should have been avoided and I don't think it had to take three players from my club getting called up."

An Aberdeen win could see them move level on points with Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
