Derek McInnes: Aberdeen 'still have plenty to work on' following draw with Dundee

Derek McInnes says that Aberdeen have "still got plenty to work on" after their 1-1 Scottish Premiership draw against Dundee.

Derek McInnes has stressed that Aberdeen have "still got plenty to work on" following their 1-1 Scottish Premiership draw against Dundee this afternoon.

Adam Rooney's first-half opener was cancelled out by Stephen McGinn, who scored from close range with 20 minutes remaining at Dens Park.

"It was a poor second-half performance, we never managed it well enough," McInnes told BBC Sport. "The second half shows me we've still got plenty to work on.

"The way we started the game, we were totally in charge. I thought Dundee played like an away team in the first half in terms of coming off the game. We had total dominance I felt and played the game in their half. We only caused ourselves problems when we gave away cheap possession.

"We just need to keep trying to win games. Prior to the game we had 44 points from 48 out with the two Celtic games. Obviously for us it's two points dropped, we thought we could come here and win. We just need to dust ourselves down and try and win the next one."

Aberdeen are now five points behind league leaders Celtic, after the reigning champions beat Dundee United at Parkhead.
