Adelaide United record narrow win over Perth Glory

Pablo Sanchez scores the only goal of the match as Adelaide United record a 1-0 win over Perth Glory in their A-League clash.

Adelaide United have moved off the bottom of the A-League table following a 1-0 win over Perth Glory.

It took just two minutes for Adelaide to open the scoring, Pablo Sanchez chipping over the oncoming Ante Covic after being set free through the middle.

Sidnei Sciola had the first real chance of the match for Perth after half an hour, firing in a shot from the right of the box, forcing a strong save from Adelaide keeper Eugene Galekovic.

Galekovic did well to deny Richard Garcia after Glory threatened through a direct counter-attack, before Michael Marrone saw a miss-hit cross ricochet off the bar.

Chances were few and far between in the second 45 minutes as both managers made all three substitutions, but the hosts did have to hold off a spell of late pressure to secure their first league win of the season.

Adelaide are now unbeaten in their last six home A-League matches against the Glory, while Perth have now only recorded one win in their last 11 league matches against Adelaide.
