Frank De Boer blasts "ridiculous" penalty award

Ajax coach Frank de Boer beamoans the decision to award AC Milan a stoppage-time penalty in their 1-1 draw in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.

Ajax coach Frank de Boer slammed the decision to award AC Milan a 92nd-minute penalty in their 1-1 draw on Tuesday night as "ridiculous".

Stefano Denswil thought he had won it for the home side in the Champions League clash against the Italians when he scored a 90th minute header.

However, the spoils were shared when Mario Balotelli converted a stoppage-time penalty after being fouled by Mike van der Hoorn, and De Boer was unhappy with the award of a spot-kick.

"It was ridiculous that a penalty was given against us. It cost us two points," De Boer told reporters after the game.

"There are always moments of contact. It is the right time to let go. Van der Hoorn left him at the right moment.

"Eventually, I can live with a draw, even if the penalty is disappointing. With Balotelli you know he can score from scratch and create theatre. That cost us two points."

Elsewhere in the group, Barcelona overcame Celtic 1-0 in Scotland to maintain their perfect start to the season.
