Fernando Gago doubtful for World Cup

A knee injury may rule Argentina midfielder Fernando Gago out of this summer's World Cup.

Argentina head coach Alejandro Sabella may have to make do without the services of Fernando Gago at this summer's World Cup.

The 28-year-old, who has been capped on 47 occasions, picked up a knee ligament injury during Boca Juniors' 0-0 draw with Santa Fe on Sunday evening.

A statement on the club's official website read: "The midfielder suffered a grade two sprain in the left knee, with a partial lesion of the medial collateral ligament, and will be immobilised for 15 days. The estimated recovery time is 60 days."

The Argentines get their World Cup campaign underway against Bosnia-Herzegovina on June 15.
