Alex Iwobi predicting bright future for Nigeria

In-form Algeria stand in the way of Iwobi and his fellow Super Eagles.

Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi believes Africa Cup of Nations semi-finalists Nigeria are standing on the brink of a golden future.

The Super Eagles, tournament winners on three occasions, play Algeria in Cairo on Sunday for a place in the final.

"I hope we can achieve in this year's edition and even if we don't do that this time we can achieve more in the future because we are a young team that includes many talents who have a brilliant future," Iwobi told AFCON's official website.

"I'm positive we can do something great together in the coming years."

Iwobi has featured in all five of Nigeria's matches in Egypt and has contributed with some crucial assists, including one for team-mate Samuel Chukwueze, who opened the scoring in their 2-1 quarter-final win against South Africa.

"For us we have great confidence in ourselves to go till the very end and I believe we can pull off a great feat for ourselves and our country," Iwobi added.

Algeria beat Guinea 3-0 in the last 16 before edging past Ivory Coast in a dramatic penalty shoot-out in the quarter-finals.

The north Africans' sole triumph at the Africa Cup of Nations came when they hosted the tournament in 1990 and defeated Nigeria 1-0 in the final.
