Player Ratings: Arsenal 4-0 Aston Villa

Sports Mole rates and slates the Arsenal and Aston Villa players for their performance in the one-side FA Cup final at Wembley.

Arsenal became the first side to win the FA Cup 12 times by annihilating Aston Villa 4-0 in this evening's final at Wembley.

The Gunners dominated from the first whistle and took a deserved lead five minutes before the break through Theo Walcott.

Alexis Sanchez doubled their lead with a swerving drive from 25 yards not long after the interval, with Per Mertesacker and Olivier Giroud adding further goals in the second half.

With victory, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger becomes the first post-war manager to win the trophy on six occasions, while Villa miss out on an eighth title and first since 1957.

Below, Sports Mole rates each player out of 10 for their performance at the national stadium.

Goal

Wojciech Szczesny: Arsenal's cup keeper was recalled and barely had anything to do. Villa did not muster a single shot on target, but the Pole did have to make some big punches to clear away from danger. (6/10)

Defence

Hector Bellerin: The impressive youngster got forward when he could and gave Jack Grealish a torrid time when the Villa winger tried to attack. (7/10)

Per Mertesacker: A brilliant display from the big German. Not only did he win almost every battle with Christian Benteke, he also came up with a goal to kill Villa off just after the hour mark. (9/10)

Laurent Koscielny: Guilty of missing two early chances, but solid in his defensive duties. (7/10)

Nacho Monreal: Like Bellerin on the other side, tried to get forward whenever he could. It was his dinked cross that led to the opening goal. (7/10)

Midfield

Francis Coquelin: Villa struggled to get Benteke any service and that was largely down to a fabulous display from Coquelin. His rise has been meteoric since the turn of the year and he gave Villa nothing today. (9/10)

Santi Cazorla: The diminutive Spaniard was at his classy best, barely putting a foot wrong and helping Arsenal dominate the midfield. (8/10)

Aaron Ramsey: Could not emulate his goal in last year's final, missing the target with two good chances in the early stages. (7/10)

Mesut Ozil: Outshone by others, but still a calming influence in the playmaking role. Always looking to unlock the opposition, it did not quite work out today. (7/10)

Alexis Sanchez: The Chilean loves playing at Wembley. He scored twice for his country at the national stadium before his move to Arsenal and now has three goals in two games for the Gunners there. Today's was a special strike - one of the best FA Cup final goals. (8/10)

Attack

Theo Walcott: Kept his place in the starting lineup after a hat-trick on the final day of the Premier League season and justified his selection. He was a pest to the Villa backline and broke the deadlock with a fine left-foot volley. (8/10)

Substitutes

Jack Wilshere: Cool presence in the middle after replacing Ozil in the 77th minute. (6/10)

Olivier Giroud: Took Walcott's place and got on the scoresheet with a cheeky flicked finish with the last kick of the game. (7/10)

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: Only on the field for injury time, but played his part with the assist for Giroud. (7/10)

VILLA

Goal

Shay Given: Made a good save to keep out Koscielny early on, but might think he could have done better to stop the second and third goals. Sanchez's strike was swerving and probably too good, but Mertesacker's header was not too far away and he could have reacted quicker. (5/10)

Defence

Alan Hutton: Had a torrid time trying to contain Sanchez and was booked for a rash challenge on the Chilean. (4/10)

Ron Vlaar: Failed to marshal the Villa defence - they always looked like conceding. (5/10)

Jores Okore: Walcott's pace worried him and, like Vlaar, simply could not contain the danger. (5/10)

Kieran Richardson: Made a tremendous block to deny Walcott the opener midway through the first half. Removed in the 68th minute. (6/10)

Midfield

Ashley Westwood: Barely noticeable as the Gunners' midfield ran riot. Taken off with 20 minutes remaining. (4/10)

Tom Cleverley: Chased shadows for much of the game as Arsenal popped passes around with ease. (5/10)

Fabian Delph: The only Villa player to really show any desire to push forward, but Arsenal were simply too strong. (6/10)

Charles N'Zogbia: Lasted just 53 minutes in an anonymous display. (3/10)

Jack Grealish: Starred in the semi-final win over Liverpool, but could not rise to the occasion today. The youngster will have better days. (4/10)

Attack

Christian Benteke: Isolated for much of the match and lost in the air to often to Mertesacker and Koscielny. He was at fault for the third goal by misjudging the flight of Cazorla's corner and allowing Mertesacker a free header. (4/10)

Substitutes

Gabriel Agbonlahor: Surprisingly omitted from the starting XI. Could not have any impact when he was brought on with around 40 minutes to go. (5/10)

Leandro Bacuna: Took Richardson's place and almost gifted Arsenal a goal with some comical defending in his own area. (5/10)

Carlos Sanchez: Given 20 minutes at the end but by then Villa's resolve had long been broken. (6/10)
