Antonio Conte's agent: 'Arsenal want Maurizio Sarri to succeed Arsene Wenger'

Italian football agent Federico Pastorello, who represents Antonio Conte among others, indicates that Arsenal could be interested in hiring Napoli's Maurizio Sarri.

The agent of Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has suggested that Arsenal have targeted Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri as an ideal successor to Arsene Wenger.

Sarri has already had to play down talk of a move to Chelsea this week, having been tipped to replace Conte in the Stamford Bridge hotseat.

Reports in Italy suggest that the 59-year-old has a £7m buyout clause inserted into his contract, making him a viable option for the continent's fellow elite clubs.

Arsenal appear to be among the sides lining up to poach Sarri, as respected Italian football agent Federico Pastorello has indicated that the Gunners are potentially a more likely destination than rivals Chelsea.

"Sarri? Arsenal are mainly being talked about for him," he told Tuttosport. "There's been less talk about [Massimiliano] Allegri, but it's hard to find a better coach than him for Juve. Still, from experience, I've learned that in the market, the most concrete negotiations take place in silence."

Wenger is under contract at the Emirates Stadium for a further 18 months, but has once again seen his future called into question following a disappointing Premier League campaign to date.
