Howe: 'Wilshere has transformed Bournemouth'

Eddie Howe says that he has been "pleasantly surprised" by Jack Wilshere's mentality and attitude since he joined on loan from Arsenal in August.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has hailed the work ethic of Jack Wilshere and claimed that the on-loan Arsenal midfielder has helped to take his side to a new level.

The England international has put his injury troubles to one side since making a surprise switch to the south coast on transfer deadline day, playing the full 90 minutes in three successive games prior to the international break.

Wilshere's form helped earn him a place back in the Three Lions' latest squad for the recent games against Scotland and Spain at Wembley, which Howe believes is testament to the 24-year-old's hard work on the training ground.

"His quality on the ball, his technical ability, is second to none and I think he is so comfortable he's made us a totally different team with the ball," he told Sky Sports News.

"What's pleasantly surprised me has been his mentality, his attitude to training, his ability to mould himself to the team, to fit into that team ethic that we have.

"His defensive performances have been of the highest class, so I've been really, really pleased with him and it's been great to work with him."

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger remained relatively coy when asked last month about Wilshere's future at the Emirates Stadium beyond this season.
