Arsene Wenger will nominate his successor when he leaves Arsenal, according to a report.

Arsene Wenger will be asked to nominate his successor whenever he chooses to step down as Arsenal boss, according to a report.

The Frenchman has led the Gunners to their worst ever start to a Premier League campaign, after going six seasons without silverware.

Despite the poor start, the 61-year-old has continued to receive full backing from the club and has been recently touted for the England job after Fabio Capello's contract expires next summer.

Arsenal will be expecting input from him when the time comes to find his replacement, according to The Mirror.

Second only to Manchester United's Sir Alex Ferguson, Wenger is the longest-serving manager in the league, having spent 15 years in London.

Front-runners for the position are believed to include Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola and Gunners reserve team coach Steve Bould.
