Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger declares that Jack Wilshere missed yesterday's pre-season opener with flu.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that Jack Wilshere is free from injury and ready to play during the club's pre-season tour of Asia.

Wilshere missed yesterday's 7-0 stroll against an Indonesian XI, but the Frenchman has insisted that the midfielder was suffering from flu rather than any injury troubles.

He told the club's official website: "He had flu. He's alright now, he will play in the next game, it was not an ankle problem."

Theo Walcott, Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski were all on target for the Gunners in their pre-season opener, which was swiftly followed by a short flight to Vietnam.

The Gunners are back in action on Wednesday against the Vietnamese national side in Hanoi and will finish their Far East trip with a pair of matches in Japan.
