Athletico Paranaense are allegedly using Arsenal in order to increase interest in Bruno Guimaraes.
Earlier this week, it was claimed that Benfica had made a formal approach for the midfielder, who is expected to move to Europe in 2020.
However, president Mario Celso Petraglia also suggested that Arsenal were monitoring the situation ahead of a bid during the summer window.
According to A Bola, Petraglia's revelation was an attempt to gain further offers for the 22-year-old in the near future.
As it stands, it is unclear whether that strategy has paid off, although Arsenal will likely have to make a quick decision over whether to make a move for the Brazilian.
Paranaense are likely to consider any offers in the region of £17m.
