Arsenal have reportedly moved ahead of Chelsea in the race for Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries.
The Nerazzurri are understood to value the Dutchman at €40m (£35m), a significant increase on the €14m (£12m) that he arrived at San Siro for in the summer of 2021.
However, Calciomercatoweb reports that the Gunners would only be willing to pay up to €35m (£30.5m) for the Netherlands international.
Mikel Arteta is currently using Ben White as a makeshift right-back, with the 25-year-old earning plaudits for how comfortable he has looked in the position, even earning a spot in Gareth Southgate's World Cup squad.
Takehiro Tomiyasu is heading to Qatar with Japan but has had problems with injury this season and 31-year-old Cedric Soares has featured in just four matches this season.
Dumfries has featured in 25 games so far this season, as Inter sit fifth in Serie A, contributing with two goals and three assists in all competitions.
