Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is reportedly ready to leave the Gunners this summer, agreeing a transfer to Newcastle United ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

Arsenal's Aaron Ramsdale has reportedly agreed a move to Newcastle United during this summer's transfer window.

The 26-year-old has seen his game time at the Emirates severely restricted by the arrival of Brentford's David Raya on a loan deal from across the capital at the beginning of the term.

Raya quickly stole the title of first-choice goalkeeper from Ramsdale, limiting him to just six Premier League appearances across the course of the 2023-24 campaign.

This time last year, the former Sheffield United man would have been a shoe-in to make Gareth Southgate's England squad for the European Championships, however a lack of minutes this season has thrown the keeper's selection into serious doubt.

Since making the switch from the Blades during the summer of 2021, Ramsdale has made 89 appearances for Mikel Arteta's Gunners across all competitions.

Arsenal's Ramsale 'agrees to join Newcastle'

Following a season of frustration in North London, Sky Sports journalist James Green is claiming that Ramsdale has agreed to a transfer away from Arsenal.

The report claims that the 26-year-old has signed a deal to move from the capital to the North-East, where he will link up with Eddie Howe's Newcastle for the 2024-25 season.

It is understood that Arsenal are planning to make the signing of Raya permanent from Brentford in the summer for £27m, meaning that Ramsdale has little chance of reclaiming his spot as first choice at the Emirates.

Preparing for the departure of the England international, Arteta's troops are said to be eyeing a swoop for Everton stopper Jordan Pickford as a replacement.

Southgate's go-to man on the international stage has been a stalwart for the Toffees, helping Sean Dyche's side to comfortably avoid a relegation battle despite an eight-point deduction from breaking the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability rules.

Ramsdale turned down Premier League offer?

It was reported back in late November by football.london that Ramsdale had rejected an approach from a bottom-half Premier League outfit for his services.

The ex-Bournemouth stopper is said to be desperate to be playing regular football once again, however he was not willing to join a club who are not competing for Europe.

Newcastle certainly fit that continent-chasing bill, with the Magpies able to qualify for either the Europa League or Europa Conference League this weekend.

Howe's side travel to Brentford on the final day, knowing that they need to match Manchester United's result to stand any chance of making it into Europe.
