Gunners boss Arsene Wenger admits there has been "no news" over Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri's potential departures.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed that there has been "no news" regarding the possible transfers of captain Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri.

The duo have been the subject of transfer talk throughout the summer, with Fabregas expected to move to Barcelona while Nasri has been linked with a switch to Manchester City.

Despite Wenger previously claiming that the transfers were imminent, the 61-year-old has now backtracked on his comments.

"I expect nobody to leave," Wenger told reporters. "The best thing for us one day before the championship starts is not to focus on possible transfers.

"At the moment there is no news. If there is news I promise I will give it. I will decide what's best for the club. My personal feelings are not important. What is important is the club and how well we do.

"I have not been disappointed with their (Fabregas, Nasri) attitudes. They are professionals. I take nothing personally. The transfer speculation is disruptive but that is not an excuse."

Meanwhile, Fabregas and Nasri have both been left out of the Gunners squad to face Newcastle in their opening Premier League fixture on Saturday, August 13.
