Aaron Ramsey wants Robin van Persie stay

Aaron Ramsey says that he wants Robin van Persie to remain at Arsenal.

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has said that he hopes his captain Robin van Persie will stay at the club.

Van Persie has just one year left on his current deal with the Gunners and made it clear in a statement last Wednesday that he has no intention of signing a new contract at the Emirates.

However, Welsh teammate Ramsey, who is preparing to represent Team GB in the Olympic Games later this month, knows how important the Dutchman is to the club and is hoping that the striker will remain in North London.

"I hope Robin van Persie stays at Arsenal," Ramsey told talkSPORT.

"I haven't read too much about what's going on but we're hopeful he'll stay.

"He had a big season last year with the amount of goals he scored. Arsenal want to keep players like that at the club, so hopefully we can do it."

Van Persie has been linked with the likes of Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus.
