Arsenal Wenger will allow Reading to keep Benik Afobe for another season if the Royals get promoted at the end of the season.

Arsenal starlet Benik Afobe will stay at Reading until the end of next season if the Royals are promoted.

The 19-year-old forward, who has yet to feature for the Gunners, moved to the Madejski Stadium last week and made an impressive debut in the 3-1 win over Blackpool on Saturday.

Brian McDermott's team currently occupy the second automatic promotion place in the Championship table and have a four-point lead over their closest rivals West Ham United.

If they maintain their position and earn a place in the Premier League, Arsene Wenger is keen for Afobe to remain in Berkshire in order to gain some valuable top-flight experience, according to The Sun.

Afobe spent most of last season on loan at Huddersfield Town, where he scored eight goals in 35 appearances.
