Lee Dixon: 'Remi Garde understands football'

Ex-Arsenal defender Lee Dixon says that Remi Garde could go on to be a success if he becomes Aston Villa manager.

Former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon has said that Remi Garde could go on to be a success if he becomes Aston Villa manager.

The ex-Lyon boss is expected to be named as the successor to Tim Sherwood at Villa Park this week.

Dixon, who played with Garde for Arsenal between 1996 and 1999, has said that the French coach will have no problem settling into the Premier League again.

"Remi Garde a top guy. Very good English and gets the game," Dixon wrote on Twitter. "I don't know him as a coach but as a player and a man he was spot on. Good luck."

Reports have suggested that Garde will sign a three-and-a-half-year deal at Villa Park.
