Alex McLeish believes that his Aston Villa side were "excellent" against Bolton Wanderers this afternoon.

Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish has praised Aston Villa's performance at the Reebok Stadium this afternoon.

The Villains scored twice during the opening 45 minutes, and despite allowing Ivan Klasnic to halve the deficit after the break, they managed to hold on to take all three points at the expense of Bolton Wanderers.

"It was a very good first-half performance from us," McLeish told BBC Five Live. "The lads were excellent and the front four looked really dangerous, creating a lot of chances.

"We showed resilience in the second half and the team deserves lots of credit for standing firm."

Villa have moved up to eighth in the Premier League table following today's win.
