Remi Garde admits Aston Villa interest in Ashley Cole

Aston Villa manager Remi Garde reveals that the club could sign former Arsenal and Chelsea full-back Ashley Cole from Roma in January.

Aston Villa manager Remi Garde has admitted that the Premier League strugglers might try to sign former Arsenal and Chelsea defender Ashley Cole in January.

Cole, 34, has been recently linked with a move back to England and is in the final year of his contract with Roma, who have left him in the cold this season.

Speaking about who they want to sign in January, Garde told reporters: "We know what we want to do. I feel we will need to improve the team to get more chances [of staying up].

"Experience is something we need. Ashley is someone who has experience but he didn't play for a while now.

"Every good player is interesting for me and he is a good player."

After 15 games of the season, Villa are rockbottom in the Premier League, seven points from safety.
