Enrique Cerezo: 'Atletico Madrid want Fernando Torres deal'

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo reveals that his club are "working on" a deal to bring AC Milan's Fernando Torres to the team on a permanent basis.

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has insisted that the Spanish outfit want Fernando Torres to remain in Madrid.

Torres is currently in his second spell with Atletico, but is only on loan at the Vicente Calderon and as it stands will return to parent club AC Milan for the 2016-17 campaign.

Torres has refused to hide his desire to sign a permanent contract in recent weeks, and Cerezo has confirmed that Atletico are currently "working on" a deal which will keep the 32-year-old in Madrid.

"We want him to stay. We are working on it to create many more chapters in our history together," Cerezo told reporters.

Torres has scored 12 times for Atletico this season, which represents his best campaign in terms of goals since hitting 22 for Chelsea in 2012-13.
