Diego Simeone has said that it is "obvious" he does not want to lose Filipe Luis following speculation that the full-back is a target for Paris Saint-Germain.
Reports in the Spanish press earlier this weekend suggested that the Brazil international, under contract with Atleti for another 12 months, is keen to speak to PSG.
With less than two weeks of the transfer window left to run for European clubs, Simeone has stressed that offloading Luis is not part of his plans, with the 33-year-old in line to feature against Valencia on Monday evening.
"What I can say about Luis is that the player knows that we want him and that he's very important for us," he told reporters ahead of the trip to the Mestalla.
"Tomorrow he will play and my mind is focused on tomorrow's game and the importance of it. They know me and players who have given us so much always know that I want the best and obviously I don't want Filipe to leave."
Luis was an unused substitute in Wednesday's UEFA Super Cup triumph against Real Madrid in Tallinn.
