Mathew Leckie: 'Australia can beat Netherlands'

Australia forward Mathew Leckie believes that the Socceroos can surprise the Netherlands in their next World Cup fixture.

Australia forward Mathew Leckie has claimed that the Socceroos can beat the Netherlands in their next World Cup fixture.

The Aussies lost their opening game of the tournament against Chile, while the Dutch thrashed holders Spain 5-1.

Despite Australia's status as underdogs heading into the match, Leckie is confident that they can shock the group leaders.

"We really want to get a result so we're going to try and find the areas where we can hurt the Dutch team," he told FIFA.com. "I think if we can play as well as we did [against Chile] we'll definitely have an opportunity to get a win."

Leckie has scored one goal in eight games for Australia since making his debut in 2012.
